Chipped Mod Guide
Learn the workbenches, master tiling previews and build faster with a clean crafting corner.
Guide by Level
Start with the basics or jump to advanced palette techniques.
Beginner guide
- Search the creative inventory or a recipe viewer for "table" to find the seven workbenches.
- Craft the Mason Table first; stone gives the widest range of variants.
- Place stone bricks in the input slot and click any variant to craft one.
- Build a small 3×3 panel to see the block in context.
- Put the block back in to switch to another design at no cost.
Advanced guide
- Use the 2×2 preview mode to check connected textures before crafting in bulk.
- Shift-craft full stacks and pre-convert more than you need for large walls.
- Combine two or three variants of one block at a 60/30/10 ratio for natural texture.
- Use REI or EMI grouping to plan a palette without leaving your build.
- On servers, share a variant board so teams build from the same palette.
Best practices
- Keep all seven stations together next to material chests.
- Keep one variant as the "base" and use others as accents.
- Back up worlds before updating Chipped or its libraries.
- Match versions across client and server every update.
- Test shaders with connected glass in a small area first.
Tips, tricks and keyboard shortcuts

Choosing a palette
Pick one base block and two accents from the same material. Use the base for most of the surface, one accent for trim and one for highlights. This keeps colour steady while adding texture.
Using the preview modes
Single mode shows one block. Horizontal and vertical modes show a strip, useful for pillars and floors. The 2×2 mode is best for connected textures and repeating patterns.
Working with recipe viewers
JEI, REI and EMI list every variant and which station makes it. REI groups Chipped variants automatically in recent versions, which keeps the item list tidy.
