Chipped Workbenches Explained

The seven Chipped workbenches, what each one converts, and how to pick the right station for wood, stone, glass, wool and more.

Why there are seven stations

Instead of one tool that converts everything, Chipped splits its 11,000-plus blocks across seven themed workbenches. Each station accepts a family of vanilla materials and shows every variant it can make from them. The split keeps each screen short enough to browse, and it gives your base a natural crafting corner that looks like a workshop rather than a single magic block.

The seven workbenches

  • Botanist's Workbench: natural and plant-based blocks.
  • Glassblower: glass and stained glass, including connected-texture panes.
  • Carpenter's Table: planks, logs and other wooden blocks.
  • Loom Table: wool, carpets and other soft materials.
  • Mason Table: stone, bricks, deepslate, blackstone and similar masonry.
  • Alchemy Bench: precious and magical-looking blocks.
  • Tinkering Table: lamps, redstone-adjacent and utility-style decoration.

Exact material lists shift slightly between versions, so the fastest way to check is a recipe viewer: look up a block in JEI, REI or EMI and it shows which station converts it.

Each station handles its own family of materials, so variants stay organised by type.

Using the workbench screen

Open a station and place a block in the input slot. The right side fills with every variant you can make. Recent versions add a search bar and a preview window with four modes: single, horizontal, vertical and 2×2. The 2×2 preview is the one to use for connected textures, because it shows how a variant tiles across a wall before you commit a stack.

Click a variant to craft one. Hold Shift while pressing craft to convert the whole stack at once. Conversions are free and lossless: one block in, one block out.

Crafting the stations

Every workbench is made from vanilla materials in a normal crafting table, and the recipes relate to what the station works on, so the Carpenter's Table leans on wood and the Mason Table on stone. Because recipes can change between releases, open your recipe viewer and search the station name for the version you are playing.

Setting up a crafting corner

Place all seven stations in a row near your storage. Put a chest of raw materials beside each one. When you build, you grab a stack, convert it at the matching bench, and move on. It sounds small, but on a large build it saves dozens of trips.
