How to Install Chipped Mod

Install Chipped Mod on Fabric or NeoForge in minutes: the right loader, the two required libraries, and how to confirm everything loaded.

What you need first

Chipped is a Java Edition mod, so it needs a mod loader and two small libraries before it will start. The loader is either Fabric (with Fabric API) or NeoForge; older Minecraft versions also have Forge builds. The libraries are Athena, which draws the connected textures, and Resourceful Lib, which the Terrarium team uses across its mods. Miss either one and the game stops at launch with a missing-dependency screen.

Match everything to one Minecraft version. If you play 1.21.1, every file in your mods folder should say 1.21.1 and the same loader name. Mixing a Fabric jar with a NeoForge jar is the single most common reason a first install fails.

Install on Fabric

  1. Download the Fabric installer from fabricmc.net and run it for your Minecraft version.
  2. Open the launcher once with the new Fabric profile so it creates the mods folder.
  3. Put Fabric API, Athena, Resourceful Lib and Chipped into .minecraft/mods.
  4. Launch the Fabric profile and open the Mods menu to confirm Chipped is listed.

If you use a launcher like Prism, Modrinth App or CurseForge App, create an instance, choose Fabric, then search and add Chipped. These launchers pull the required libraries for you, which removes most version mistakes.

Install on NeoForge

Run the NeoForge installer, pick Install client, then start the NeoForge profile once. Add Athena, Resourceful Lib and the NeoForge build of Chipped to the mods folder. NeoForge does not need Fabric API, so leave it out. On first load NeoForge may take a little longer while it indexes the thousands of new block models; that is normal.

Check the install worked

Create a creative world and search the inventory for workbench or table. You should see seven stations, including the Carpenter's Table and the Mason Table. Place one, drop in a vanilla block such as stone bricks, and the preview panel should fill with variants. If the list is empty, the block you used may not have variants in that station; try it in a different one.

Installing on a server

Chipped runs on both sides, so a multiplayer server needs the same Chipped, Athena and Resourceful Lib jars as every player. Put them in the server's mods folder, restart, and share the exact version numbers with your players so their clients match. A version mismatch shows up as a registry error when someone tries to join.
